A successful MCA student scholar: just what Dr. Brock ordered
BY HARRISON VINING, Mount Carmel Academy alumnus
Dr.Brock teaches practical writing and creative writing as well as coordinating student responsibility development and detention service here at Mount Carmel Academy.
Dr.Brock begins her 7th year at MCA. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Wheaton College, a Master’s of Science Degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake , and a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr.Brock‘s definition of teaching is to “Inspire young adults to become scholars with active, disciplined learning habits. Encouraging students to stay focused and achieve learning goals is teaching. Inspiring students to value hard work is teaching. Seeing students aggressively pursue learning is the noble outcome of teaching. Learning is teaching for both the student and the teacher."
As shown from Dr.Brock’s definition of teaching, she is passionate about seeing students develop their character with life-long values.
One of Dr.Brock’s personal quotes is “To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing in righteousness, justice, and equality; to give prudence to the simpler, knowledge and discretion to the youth --- let the wise hear and increase in learning … the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction”. - Sayings of King Solomon. Dr.Brock is one of the best teachers at MCA, and this can be proven by anyone who has met or been in a class with Dr.Brock.
